Reto: I work with a huge sample library and lots of software plugins at the moment my favorite is Diva.Even with bass lines, I sampled a lot of single sounds and I use it with a sampler like Halion or Maschine. Dario: Regarding the drums, I can say that my own library helps a lot to get my own groove and sound.Is there one machine, program or technique that characterizes your sound? Well it’s difficult to give a reason why any track could work, but we think that a tight, groovy beat with a nice bass line gives a lot to a track when combined with Reto’s synths and arpeggios. Production wise, what is it about the ‘Virtual Mood’ track that makes it work? NOTE: Click the images for large versions Dario’s inputs came definitely with his beats and bass lines, while Reto provided his amazing synths, pads and string parts over the top. Well we worked out those tracks in different studios. What was the main inspiration behind it and what prompted the musical direction on this? Tell us more about the ‘Virtual Mood’ track. We tested them out at Hive in Zurich and they work really nicely. Actually, we already have support by heavyweights like Amé, Damian Lazarus, Martin Landsky, Marco Resmann, Anja Schneider, Florian Kruse, Tiefschwarz and Mihai Popoviciu amongst others. We are very happy and surprised about the reactions we got on Virtual Mood. We sat down with the Swiss duo to find out more about this superb release, as we Inside The Track with Dario D’Attis & Reto Ardour. ![]() This is their first release on Poker Flat and we feel it is a serious statement of intent for the coming year. This atmospheric three track EP has already found it’s way into the sets of Damian Lazarus, Sonny Fodera and Keinemusik’s David Mayer, with the hypnotic ‘Shape’ sure to tear the roof off many a main room in 2016. Steve Bug’s esteemed Berlin imprint is home to some of the scene’s savviest tech house players, with D’Attis and Ardour’s release sitting comfortably within the label’s sublime stable of talent.ĭario and Reto work from seperate recording studios and are two of the main players in the blossoming house scene in Switzerland. Swiss duo Dario D’Attis and Reto Ardour have certainly gone ‘all in’ with their Virtual Mood EP on Poker Flat.
